Duncan Wheeler is in his fifth year at Hampden-Sydney College during 2023-24, promoted to associate head golf coach in August 2022, after serving as an assistant golf coach for three years. He is a 2019 graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois where he was a four-year member of the golf team.
Wheeler was the individual medalist at the 2019 Midwest Conference (MWC) Championship, posting both a conference and school record 54-hole score of 74-71-76--221 to earn All-MWC honors. He finished his senior year with a scoring average of 77.00 through 10 tournaments and 19 rounds. Wheeler also earned medalist honors (150) at the Blackburn Invite in Wood River, Illinois, tied for eighth (77) at the Iowa Wesleyan Fall Invitational in Fort Madison, Iowa and tied for 10th (155) at the Loras Fall Invite in Peosta, Iowa. His career scoring average for the Prairie Fire was 78.42 through 36 tournaments and 65 rounds, including a low round of 70 along with four Top Five efforts among nine Top 10 individual finishes.
A native of Pensacola, Florida, Duncan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics with minors in business and physics from Knox. He was a four-year Team MVP and team captain for the Prairie Fire, earning additional All-MWC honors in 2016 and 2018. Wheeler tied for third (236) at the 2016 MWC Championship, tied for sixth (227) in 2018 and tied for 11th (244) in 2017.
